With a background of successfully leading communications on complex, sensitive government projects, Tom considers topics from every perspective.

Prior to joining H/Advisors APA, he held senior strategic communications roles at NSW Treasury,  NSW Police and Transport for NSW.

He is adept at working across a range of sectors, including in the economic, financial and government spheres.

He was responsible for helping the NSW Government achieve excellent outcomes on projects including the State’s economic response to COVID-19, six State Budgets and asset transactions totalling more than $34 billion.

Tom has also overseen communications on reform in industrial relations, property tax, tolling, electric vehicles, as well as sensitive negotiations including casino taxes and coal royalties.

He played a central role in the promotion of the NSW Productivity Commissioner to a highly respected thought leader and led strategic communications across media, digital and brand for Sydney's motorway network.

He is calm in a crisis, comfortable with complexity and working in the grey, managing challenging stakeholders and prioritising each organisation’s reputation.

Prior to joining NSW Government, Tom worked for Australian Associated Press where he reported from 28 countries and was bureau chief in Sydney and London. He managed major projects including a content review and the successful implementation of a new content management system for more than 200 staff across four countries.
